About Me:

Dhizaala John Stephen born in 1948 as the 3rd child in a less privileged family of 5, is a life-long Ugandan citizen working in the promotion of education for children and young adults. He started school at age 10 and worked his way through the Uganda education system from primary school to receiving a graduate degree in 1968 from St. John Bosco – Nyondo Primary Teachers College in Eastern Uganda as a Grade II primary school Teacher. In 1983, he returned to college for upgrading to get a Grade III primary school teacher certificate. During this period, he taught school in the Mbale District and then back to Kamuli Home District teaching in the schools of St. Theresa Girls Day and Boarding School, Kamuli Township Primary and later promoted to hierarchy of Headmaster Grade Two in Kiinu Primary whereby he retired from the civil service in 1991.

In 2002, the Uganda Ministry of Education together with Busoga Kingdom called him back to serve as Tutor in Busoga Teachers Training at Iganga Core Primary Teachers College, Kaliro Teachers Primary Teachers Training College, and Wanyange Primary Teachers Training College. His major teaching areas involved Development of Lusoga Language and Literature together with reviving Busoga Cultural Norms and Traditions up to the university level. In 2006 he joined the Kyambogo National Curriculum Development Centre as a Uganda Schools Curriculum panel member in all sects from primary to university levels of education which he continues to serve on today.

In 2005, Stephen with his wife Josephine founded Kamuli Area Peoples Integral Development Association (KAPIDA). As a registered Ugandan NGO, it works to promote education and sanitary infrastructure work in rural areas surrounding Kamuli, Uganda. While Josephine died in 2023, Stephen continues this very important work with his daughter, Betty. In addition, his son, Kaloli, was elected Governor of the Kamuli District (population 500,000) in 2026.

As Director of Education and Facilities Management for EdFund Uganda Foundation, he oversees all design and construction of facilities and all communications with local and District Education Officials. He is hands-on with procuring all materials and vendors for EdFund’s development work and with planning for EdFund’s future projects He works tirelessly and lovingly to support less privileged families and education institutions in a District with a population of 550,000. Through KAPIDA, he continues to support local community livelihood, education and health promotion programs.
